GlobalTRONICS 2006

1 July 2006
Bringing Electronics Design and Manufacturing Technology to Asia

GlobalTRONICS 2006 will be held from October 10 to 13 in Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre. This biennial tradeshow organized by Reed Exhibitions Pte Ltd is in its 8th edition and is expected to live up to its reputation as a ‘premier electronics manufacturing tradeshow’.

In 2004, GlobalTRONICS saw about 12,970 visitors from 47 countries, of which 22 percent are from overseas. The bulk of visitors came from Asia, an affirmation to the significance of GlobalTRONICS in Asia’s electronics manufacturing industry. Post show statistics (with reference to the pie charts) showed that more than 40 percent of the visitors are of senior and middle management levels. Overall, about 24 percent of visitors are in positions of authority. A total of about 496 companies, from 28 countries exhibited in GlobalTRONICS 2004. This included six national pavilions which participated in the show as well.

This year’s GlobalTRONICS will feature a full spectrum of product innovations and technologies from the following six segments:

• NEPCON Asia Pacific
Showcasing the latest materials, equipment and services for PCB production, assembly and packaging, SMT and fine-pitch technology.

• ElectroTEST Asia
Featuring test and measurement equipment and the latest development in testing technology including meters, bare-board testers, circuit testers, burnin-board testers, optical measurement, text fixtures and x-ray equipment.

• Asia Electronics
A showcase of passive and active components, assemblies and parts used in electronics manufacturing from around the world.

• Electronics Manufacturing Asia
Showcasing quality manufacturing and support services including contract manufacturing, plastic molding, metal stamping and precision engineering

• Embedded Systems Asia
Featuring technologies and solutions for the embedded developers and design engineers.

• OptoElectronics Asia
An unveiling of optoelectronics components that are critical to the manufacture of components such as lasers, optical discs, image sensors or optical fibers, and all sorts of equipment and systems.

The exhibition will place its focus on two segments, namely Embedded Systems Asia and OptoElectronics Asia. Embedded Systems Asia is a gathering place where the design community congregates. Buyers can capitalize on this opportunity to source for embedded solutions and technology while exhibitors utilize this chance to showcase their latest products. According to Reed Exhibitions Pte Ltd, the second edition of OptoElectronics Asia is a one-stop platform for buyers to source for alternative supplies on optoelectronics. For the exhibitors, OptoElectronics Asia serves as a timely opportunity to unveil their latest products and technologies to an Asian audience who are constantly on the search for ‘faster and better’ solutions. A total of four special features will be highlighted at GlobalTRONICS 2006.

• Lead Free
Exhibitors will showcase their leadfree compliant solutions, materials and equipment.
• Semiconductor
These are exhibitors that offer products and technologies related to the semiconductor industry.
• New Product
Showcasing the exhibitors’ latest products.
• Recruitment
These are the exhibitors who are looking for suitable candidates to fill in the job vacancies in their companies.

Event highlights
• Technology Forum
To be conducted on the showfloor during the 4 days of the exhibition, whereby international visitors can look forward to learning more about new product innovations and latest technologies that are and/or will be available in the market. This also serves as a forum for visitors/engineers to raise any issues/challenges which the exhibitors may have solutions for. On the other hand, exhibitors can capitalize on this opportunity to showcase their capabilities, launch a new product or present a successful case study to a captive audience.

• EDN Embedded Systems Seminar
This seminar will give the audience an in-depth understanding of the latest technologies and solutions on embedded systems. The event will bring together technology companies and a target audience of design engineers and managers from Singapore and South East Asia to deliberate on issues relating to design methodologies, hardware/software tools, design trends and solutions.

• GlobalTRONICS Supply Chain
and Logistics Conference Organized by SIMM (Singapore Institute of Materials Management) to discuss key issues in supply chain management, including the role of technology in supply chain, trends and directions of global supply chain management and the use of knowledge management strategies.

• IPC/JEDEC International Conference
IPC and JEDEC organized this conference in an effort to help the industry continue its quest for knowledge and understanding with regards to critical lead free issues.

Issues include the following: new alloys and materials evaluations, inspection changes, tin whiskers, lead free on advanced packages like chip scale and flip chip, reliability. This conference promises tol bring together top experts from around the world with the most up-to-date information for what will be a truly international event.
