Taiwan-based Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd. is reported to add $4 billion to its investment in Vietnam, bringing its total investment in the Southeast Asian nation to $5 billion, according to a Vietnamese Communist-run media.
The media reported that chairman of the manufacturing conglomerate, Terry Guo, promised he would funnel $4 billion more into Vietnam when he signed a letter of intent with the Vietnamese government early last month to invest $1 billion to construct a massive hi-tech industrial park in Bac Ninh Province.
The media said the added capital would be spent on more massive hi-tech industrial parks and some urban-development projects. Hon Hai will make digital cameras, film cameras, mobile phones and accessories, printed-circuit boards, connectors, and cases for personal computers on the industrial parks, according to the media. Also, the company will set up PC assembly lines in the parks.
