30 May 2008

Universal Instruments has recently launched the AdVantisX, a new-generation, low-cost surface mount platform in Asia.

This new member of the AdVantis family, AdVantisX, is a platform targeting firmly at the mid-tier assembly sector. AdVantisX features Universal's patented linear motor positioning system, a class-exclusive technology.

The AdVantisX lineup includes single- and dual-gantry high-speed models empowered by Lightning Head technology. AdVantisX also delivers several multifunction configurations utilizing the new Inline7 and Inline4 High Force flexible heads.

"This platform is particularly suitable for Asian market which is more cost-sensitive," said Jean-Luc Pelissier, CEO and President of Universal Instruments.

Meanwhile, the company has recently appointed Allan Chu to be Director of Central Asian Region covering Central China (Shanghai and the Yangtze River Delta), Taiwan, Japan and Korea.

Allan joined Universal Instruments on May 1 and is responsible for sales and services in these areas. According to Universal, Allan brings to the company his wealth of experience in managing large sales and service organization, handling of key accounts, knowledge in the semiconductor industry and strong leadership. He is strengthening Universal Instruments' presence in these regions.
