IPC Offers Box Build Training and Certification on DVD

14 July 2008

IPC — Association Connecting Electronics Industries announced that it has released a new DVD, Introduction to Box Build (DVD-50C), a 23-minute visual overview of system assembly. The DVD covers documentation, subassemblies and components, tools, handling, safety issues and step-by-step process details for building a typical electronic product.

Box build is the electromechanical assembly process to fabricate the enclosure, or chassis, into the final electronic product, or system, that is shipped to the customer. It consists of installing subassemblies and components, routing cabling and attaching wire harnesses.

The DVD includes optional English subtitles for hearing-impaired and ESL students and comes with a Leader’s Guide, review questions and IPC training certificates for students who pass the final examination.

”We are excited to be able to offer this comprehensive introduction and training program on box build,” said Joel Kimmel, producer, IPC media training. ”IPC is dedicated to providing educational and training resources to those in the interconnect industry who need them. This new DVD makes knowledge of box build readily available.”

Introduction to Box Build (DVD-50C) can be purchased from the IPC online store at www.ipc.org/onlinestore.
