Local companies well represented at the Singapore Pavilion

Led by Singapore Precision Engineering and Tooling Association(SPETA), the Singapore Pavilion consists of 47 companies gathered in 648 sqm of floor space of which 57.4 percent of companies are new participants. This signifies the importanceof GlobalTRONICS to localsmall-to-medium sized enterprises(SMEs) who are using the tradeshow as a platform to help generate leads and create awareness for their businesses.

Growth was registered in the semiconductor (1.2%), computer peripherals (24.2%),data storage (5.4%) and otherelectronic modules & components(6.5%) segments. The infocomms & consumer electronics segmentdeclined 15.8 percent. Cumulativeoutput of the electronics clusterfor the first half of the year grew 2.5 percent compared to the same period last year.

Since the implementation oflead free & RoHS legislation in July 2006, countries suchas China, South Korea, Australia, Thailand and Taiwan have either implemented or are considering RoHS-style legislation. The Korean RoHS legislation is expected to come into implementation this year in Asia.In addition, this year the WEEE(Waste Electrical and ElectronicEquipment)-based legislation isprojected to be executed in Chinaand South Korea as well.

This figure showed a 6 percent increase compared to 2006 (Source:East Bay Business Times 2008).This positive outlook signifies that the semiconductor manufacturing industry is growing strong.

GlobalTRONICS has identified companies that offer products,solutions and technologies catering to the automotive segment. Visitors can gainknowledge on automotive trendsthat lean towards environmentalissues such as hybrid feature andemission.
