Siemens EA Announces Carve-Out Schedule; Holds Siplace Compare Convention 2008

2 October 2008

Siemens Electronics Assembly (EA) Systems announces that its legal separation from the Siemens Drive Technologies Division is proceeding on schedule. Effective October 1, most of the international companies would be established as legally independent units and the complete carve-out will take place effective January 1, 2009. The new company with its 1,800 employees worldwide will operate under the name Siemens Electronics Assembly Systems as a member of the Siemens group. Its headquarters will remain in Munich headed by Günter Lauber, who will take the helm as CEO.

Meanwhile, the company invited more than 450 decision makers from electronics manufacturers and EMS providers from all over the world to attend the Siplace Compare Convention in Munich. The three day event was held under the motto “Compare” where the company presented many new products and services to its international audience in forums, workshops and panel discussions.

Highlighting the event was the world premier of Siplace's head technology called CPP (Collect & Pick & Place). The company claimed this "world's first" CPP head, the new Siplace MultiStar can place components in Collect & Place, Pick & Place and mixed mode, which opens the door to completely new, highly flexible line concepts. Both systems will be introduced to the market beginning of 2009. The products and information booths on the "Marketplace”, where technology partners of Siplace’s supply network presented their services and technologies, also garnered plenty of attention.
