Universal Instruments marked a new milestone in the company’s 89 years of history with the shipment of the 1000th Lightning placement head in June this year.
The company said the Lightning placement head, introduced in 2004, is the fastest in the industry with the largest component range of any high-speed head. It can place CSP, WSP, uBGA and MELFs at full speed with high accuracy.
Heinz Dommel, Asia General Manager, Universal Instruments, said, “The introduction of Lightning™ placement head turned a new page in the history of Universal Instruments as well as the SMT industry."
“The Lightning™ placement head makes it possible for us to develop chip placement machines which can achieve outstanding throughput without sacrificing performance in higher-mix environments.”
