While 2009 looks like a troubled year for our industry and the general economy, IPC APEX Expo keynoter Walt Custer, President, Custer Consulting Group, says it is no time to give up. The noted forecaster will give insights into the leading global indicators he tracks at the keynote session on April 1, 2009. "Although it’s tempting to pull back when times are so tough,” Custer says, "it’s important to watch the indicators so you can see the signs of recovery and plan for it.”
Sharon Starr, IPC Director of Market Research, will team with Custer and present IPC survey data showing the latest trends in demand and production for worldwide PCB, EMS and supplier industries. Custer and Starr will also share forecasts and trends for electronics equipment and component markets and discuss how seasonal and cyclical trends affect the industry and the supply chain.
Starr points out that tracking indicators can help companies be more nimble and competitive. She notes, "While we are seeing cuts around the industry now, a company will have a great advantage if it is watching the indicators and sees the turnaround before its competitors. It would be a real advantage to be in the vanguard on picking up talent before everyone else recognizes that things are getting better.”
IPC APEX Expo will take place at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Convention Center in Las Vegas, USA, March 31–April 2, 2009.
