Universal entered the electronics assembly arena by partnering with IBM in the 1950’s and put a stamp on the industry with its original platform-–the GSM Platform-–in 1992. Currently at the pinnacle of its sophistication and performance, the Universal platform product line, comprised of the flagship Genesis and AdVantisX, will be on display at APEX 2009 as a part the company’s next-generation solutions.
"We’re anxious to share our current product offerings with the attendees at APEX,” says Brad Bennett, Universal Vice President of Sales. "We’ve made our name with the platform,” he continued, "but this year we’re especially proud of some of the process and support initiatives we have for our customers. It’s a critical component of maximizing uptime, yield, and overall productivity, all vital to today’s manufacturing challenges.”
Universal said its company history has evolved continually in order to meet market demands and align with the electronics industry. "Whenever I host customers, they are immediately impressed with our current technology and high degree of quality and care that goes into crafting our equipment. We are also always proud to display our over 200 patents,” commented Universal President and CEO Jean-Luc Pelissier. "Today, our machines are placing 01005s at astonishing speeds and accuracies. It’s amazing to see how far the technology has come in the past decades.”
"It’s a substantial achievement to reach the 90 year mark here at Universal,” says Pelissier. "Moving forward, we’ll continue to evolve while upholding the tradition of adhering to robust design principles and supplying first class equipment, software, process expertise, and support. Just as we did with the GSM, our unique automation solutions, and our IM series of products, we’ll be striving to set the industry mark for future technologies as well.”
