HP announced that the Hewlett-Packard Company Foundation has made a donation of $350,000 to the American Red Cross International Response Fund to assist with disaster relief efforts in the wake of Typhoon Ketsana (Ondoy).
The fund provides immediate relief and long term support through supplies, technical assistance and other support to individuals and communities affected by disasters such as the devastating Typhoon-related flooding and damages in the Philippines, Vietnam and surrounding regions.
HP has significant operations in the affected regions, with many employees directly affected by the Typhoon. The company is continuing to work closely with local authorities and agencies to provide assistance to employees and their families living in severely affected areas.
HP also has initiated its own relief efforts to assist affected employees. Relief operations include rehabilitation initiatives, shelter assistance and house clean-ups led by employees and the country leadership team.
"HP and its employees have a long history of supporting those in need, and we are grateful that the Hewlett-Packard Company Foundation is committing aid to the Typhoon Ketsana (Ondoy) relief efforts,” said David Tan, Managing Director, HP Philippines. "Our thoughts go out to those coping with the aftermath of this disaster.”
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) has launched an urgent call for donations. Those interested in contributing to the relief efforts can visit www.ifrc.org or www.redcross.org.
