Essemtec AG Wins Major Business Award

Essemtec AG announced that Martin Ziehbunner, the company's CEO, has been awarded the most important Swiss business prize. The title “Entrepreneur Of The Year“ in the industry category was conferred by Ernst & Young, paying tribute to his entrepreneurial work. Together with his father, he founded the family enterprise 18 years ago and made it into a leading global provider of high tech machines, the company said.

Ernst & Young has been conferring the title every year since 1997. The award ceremony took place on Friday, October 23rd on the Novartis campus in Basel, Switzerland. A jury of business and industry leaders chose Ziehbrunner from among 50 nominees as this year's winner in the industry category.

With his positive attitude, inventiveness and an intuition for niches in the market, Ziehbrunner is able to foster his staff’s motivation, implement innovations and make use of new opportunities. Despite adverse circumstances in this year, he was able to increase his company’s global market position, expand existing markets, improve existing products and drive the development of new machines, the company said.

“I am proud of the award, but am also aware that it takes a very strong team to achieve something like this. And I am aware that I sometimes make excessive demands on this team with my ideas...“, says Ziehbrunner with a twinkle in his eye. And one expects nothing else from an Entrepreneur of the Year 2009.
