40,000 Expected to Participate in Expanded SOLARCON China 2010

5 March 2010

The SEMI PV Group and Intersolar have co-organized the upcoming photovoltaic (PV) conference SOLARCON China in Shanghai on March 16-18, 2010. Another strategic partnership with the 6th Annual China SoG Silicon and PV Power (CSPV) Conference will help SOLARCON China 2010 cover its 20,000 square meters of exhibiting space with more than 350 exhibitors. In total, over 40,000 domestic and international visitors are expected to attend the event which will focus on the latest market trends, advanced products, and comprehensive industry information for PV manufacturing.

Due to the Chinese government’s aggressive program of incentives to encourage the rapid growth of the PV industry, companies have recovered from last year’s slump as global demand rebounded. Preliminary data indicates that last year Chinese cell/module makers doubled their 2008 levels to reach 8,000MW solar cell capacity and produced over 4,000MW solar cells, representing 40 percent of the global total production.

Capitalizing on the strong government support and the expanding growth of the PV industry in China, SOLARCON China 2010 will cover all solar energy technologies and represent the entire solar energy supply chain, including: equipment and materials suppliers, cell and module manufacturers, balance of systems (BOS) suppliers (including inverters, tracking systems, integrators), distributors and project developers. SOLARCON China will also present theme areas featuring CIGS thin-film technology, Concentrated PV (CPV) technology and global PV standards.
