Unimicron Technology Corporation and Shocking Technologies Inc have formed a partnership to work together to accelerate the adoption of Shocking Technologies’ XStatic Voltage Switchable Dielectric Material (VSDM). According to Shocking Technologies, its VSDM material protects sensitive electronic circuitry from ESD at both the system and package level.
"It has become very apparent to us that there is a lot of interest from our customers in Shocking’s solution. We have seen interest from many of our customers especially in the cell phone and consumer electronics markets where we have a major market share. We also fully understand the extension to our semiconductor packaging business and see the potential for those customers as well. As the world’s largest PCB manufacturer, it is important that we see the trends and benefits for our customers and make the adoption of new technologies easier and faster. Shocking’s technology clearly fits that description. We look forward to working with the Shocking team to make this technology readily available to our customers,” said Steve Chiang, President of Unimicron’s PCB Business Unit.
"Shocking is very happy to partner with Unimicron. To have such a world class manufacturer of PCB and semiconductor packages join our growing list of partners is very important to our plans to get our technology adopted quickly. As with any disruptive technology, the initial adoption hurdles are the hardest. Unimicron’s experience and world class team is making this challenge much easier to overcome. Unimicron’s vision and their ability to adapt to changes in technology is clearly why they have grown to be the world’s largest PCB manufacturer. We look forward to a mutually beneficial partnership with Unimicron to support our joint customers,” said Lex Kosowsky, President and CEO of Shocking Technologies.
