SIPLACE Conducts New Placement Platform Field Test at Kaifa Technology

25 February 2011

ASM Assembly Systems (formerly Siemens Electronic Assembly Systems) has started field-testing its new SIPLACE DX placement machine platform. To focus on specific user requirements, the SIPLACE team worked from the very start of the design and development process with companies like Kaifa Technology in Shenzhen, China, and continues this cooperation now with extensive field tests to fine-tune the new platform. Once the field tests are complete, the SIPLACE DX will be presented to selected companies starting in March 2011 and subsequently rolled out in stages in the regional SIPLACE clusters.

In January 2011, two SIPLACE DX machines were installed at Chinese leading electronics manufacturer Shenzhen Kaifa Technology. As an EMS provider, Kaifa Technology produces hard disks, memory sticks, mobile phones, USB sticks, mother board, power meters, set top boxes, fiscal cash registers, and other electronic products for international customers at two locations in China, making it an ideal candidate to put the SIPLACE DX through its paces under the watchful eye of SIPLACE developers. Both companies want to use this field test to further intensify their existing technology partnership for mutual benefit.

According to SIPLACE, field tests like this one enable its developers to test the many innovations in the SIPLACE DX under real-life conditions. "When we developed the specifications for the SIPLACE DX, we paid special attention to the needs of our Asian customers from the very start. With its compact dimensions and robust construction, the machine is designed for maximum productivity and an exceptional price-performance ratio. We are proud that we are able to field-test and improve our latest platform in cooperation with the team of Kaifa Technology as we get ready for the exciting product launch phase," says Günter Schindler, the COO of ASM Assembly Systems.

The SIPLACE team is paying special attention to the completely redesigned user interface during the field test. The innovative Smart GUI (graphical user interface) includes a Video Assistant which visualizes the most important processes step-by-step for the operating staff in order to reduce errors and minimize production interruptions.
